During this time we\u2019ve learned a great deal so here are our top 25 tips for great copy.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Know your audience.<\/li>\n<li>Remember them throughout.<\/li>\n<li>First and foremost, understand your brand\u2019s values, inside out.<\/li>\n<li>Know your proposition.<\/li>\n<li>Choose your words carefully.<\/li>\n<li>Use your words sparingly.<\/li>\n<li>Use short sentences.<\/li>\n<li>Use short paragraphs.<\/li>\n<li>Be active, not passive.<\/li>\n<li>Tone of voice matters\u2026 be unique.<\/li>\n<li>So does correct grammar and spelling\u2026 hone them to perfection.<\/li>\n<li>Never stop asking \u2018so what?\u2019, because your reader certainly won\u2019t.<\/li>\n<li>Use plain English, always.<\/li>\n<li>Repetition is a no no (see what we did there?).<\/li>\n<li>Structure is vital &#8211; much like fishing, copywriting always starts with a hook!<\/li>\n<li>Your headline is your first impression so make it count.<\/li>\n<li>The first paragraph should be used to give your headline some legs.<\/li>\n<li>The proof\u2019s in the pudding \u2013 always substantiate your claims.<\/li>\n<li>Remember the benefits \u2013 every point you make must have one or it\u2019s probably not worth mentioning.<\/li>\n<li>Don\u2019t leave them hanging \u2013 always tell your reader what to do next.<\/li>\n<li>Your website is a VERY powerful selling tool, use it well.<\/li>\n<li>But always put the reader first and Google second.<\/li>\n<li>Avoid metaphors, similes or other common clich\u00e9s.<\/li>\n<li>Don\u2019t use jargon \u2013 it\u2019s not big, clever or cool!<\/li>\n<li>Never underestimate the power of words.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Established in Bath in 1987, and now based in London and Bristol, we\u2019ve worked our way through economic ups and downs, the rise and fall of everything printed, and the rise and rise of digital\u2026 everything.
